Rudy Vallée (July 28, 1901 - July 3, 1986) was a popular American singer, actor, bandleader, and entertainer. Born Hubert Prior Vallée in Island Pond, Vermont, the son of Charles Alphonse and Catherine Lynch Vallée. Both of his parents were born and raised in Vermont, but their parents were immigrants; the Vallées being of French Canadian origin, while the Lynches were from Ireland. Rudy grew up in Westbrook, Maine. Having played drums in his high school band, Vallee played clarinet and saxophone in various bands around New England in his youth. In 1917, he decided to enlist for World War I, but was discharged when the Navy authorities found out that he was only 15. He enlisted in Portland, Maine on March 29, 1917, under the false birthdate of July 28, 1899. He was discharged at the Naval Training Station, Newport, Rhode Island, on May 17, 1917 with 41 days of active service. [1] From 1924 through 1925, he played with the "Savoy Havana Band" in London. He then returned to the States to obtain a degree in Philosophy from Yale and to form his own band, "Rudy Vallee and the Connecticut Yankees." With this band, which featured two violins, two saxophones, a piano, a banjo and drums, he started taking vocals (supposedly reluctantly at first). He had a rather thin, wavering tenor voice and seemed more at home singing sweet ballads than attempting vocals on jazz numbers. However, his singing, together with his suave manner and handsome boyish looks, attracted great attention, especially from young women[citation needed]. Vallee was given a recording contract and in 1928, he started performing on the radio. Vallees recording career began in 1928 recording for Columbia Records cheap labels (Harmony, Velvet Tone, and Diva). He signed to Victor in February 1929 and remained through late 1931, leaving after a heated dispute with company executives over title selections. He then recorded for the short-lived, but extremely popular "Hit of the Week" label (which sold records laminated onto cardboard). In August 1932, he signed with Columbia and stayed with them through 1933; he returned to Victor in June 1933. His records were issued on Victors new budget label, Bluebird, until November 1933 when he was moved up the full-priced Victor label. He stayed with Victor until signing with ARC in 1936, who released his records on their Perfect, Melotone, Conqueror and Romeo labels until 1937 when he returned to Victor. So... the final stage, which contains one of the easiest (and most disappointing) boss fights ever. I remember not being able to work out what I was supposed to do as a kid, but once thats out the way... its almost shocking how simple it is. The ending isnt great either, but what do you expect for such a short game? I think this stage is one of the few that doesnt have very noticable colour problems. I think in the future I will need to either try a different emulator or just stay away from Game Gear (and maybe even Master System) games, although I hope it doesnt come to that. I also wish I had played the Master System version for one simple fact -- the platform section of this stage would have been more simple as I could have seen where I was going, haha. I played the Game Gear version back in the day though, so thats the version I had to record from.

Born on a farm in April, 1908, and grew up in nearby Yazoo City, Mississippi. Played across the South Delta in towns like Greenwood, Indianola and Itta Bena during the 1920s and through the 1930s, sometimes with his only local rival, and stylistic "sound-a-like", Robert Petway. Reportedly, McClennan was a very nervous and slightly built man, but he must have really rocked in those Mississippi juke joints. Theres been a lot of negative writing about McClennan in the past, but Big Tony is telling you this is one of the great Delta artists. Hes a powerful and convincing vocalist, and his playing has both impact and nuance; this is one of the Big Guys. Lester Melrose arranged his first recording session, for Bluebird in November, 1939; and around 1940 Tommy moved to Chicago. His first recordings sold rather well, and he was back in the studio in May, 1940, and again in December the same year. In 1941 he did a session in September, and in 1942 he recorded his last songs in February. All his recordings was made in Chicago for the Bluebird label. At each recording session he cut eight songs, which makes a total output of 40 titles. McClennan is thought to have stopped performing about 1952. A decade later he died, destitute, in the Chicago ghetto; another victim of changing tastes and the retreat into alcohol abuse. As Honeyboy Edwards once described Tommys style in an interview "He just play the blues. Play straight blues. There wasnt nothin betwixt nothin. Here is my dad Jim Minor doing a ballad song titled "Jackson Prison Bars" This song is the original "Sound, Inc" records of Detroit, Michigan release. Record came out in 1968. Flip side of 45 record has "Aggravatin Waitin. Aggravatin Waitin was written by Howard Walker of Imlay City, Michigan. This song, JACKSON PRISON BARS, written by Jim, was about a man who left the south because he didnt have a dime, so he goes north to build them shiny cars. This is a great, great ballad song. I knew nothing about the "Schlager-Ton" Label. It is a 20 cm record. On the Label German Words - Fred Barney - - No words on the record! NEW The Label „Schlager Ton" was an Sub-Label aka dime store record, of „ORCHESTROLA" - Orchestrola, that was by itself the cheap and late Label of the great „VOX" recording trust. The records had been cut on 20 cm records. Theo Mackeben get his start with the Orchestrola Label - starting in 1928. Some were sold as "Vocalion Band" - german "Vocalion" Label. So we have 3 kinds of Labels, but all the same "Schlager Ton", "Orchestrola", and "Vocalion" - all of them are late VOX items! The Band Georg Enders, a swedish Bandleader recorded since 1928 for the swedish brand of "Orchestrola"aka "VOX" with his Jazz Orchestra in sweden. Any knowledges about Enders are welcomed! From 1930 to 1931 he played and recorded with other swedish foreigners in Berlin for „Orchestrola" and „Ultraphone" (last is the "Kuchenmeister" trust")

The records had been cut on 20 cm records. Theo Mackeben get his start with the Orchestrola Label - starting in 1928. Some were sold as "Vocalion Band" - german "Vocalion" Label. So we have 3 kinds of Labels, but all the same "Schlager Ton", "Orchestrola", and "Vocalion" - all of them are late VOX items! The Band Georg Enders, a swedish Bandleader recorded since 1928 for the swedish brand of "Orchestrola" aka "VOX" with his Jazz Orchestra in sweden. Any knowledges about Enders are welcomed! From 1930 to 1931 he played and recorded with other swedish foreigners in Berlin for „Orchestrola" and „Ultraphone" (last is the "Kuchenmeister" trust")

Brother can you spare a dime - Jim Cullum Brother can you spare a dime is played by the fabulous Jim Cullum Band from San Antonio Texas. I consider Jim and his band the very best in its field. Today, some 21 years later, in 2007 with almost completely changed personnel (Howard Elkins, I think, is still with Jim) Jim is still on top of the scene. Check his website ( //-riverwalkjazz/ ) and youll find out soon why that is. In 1986 our Climax Jazz Band was invited to a jazz festival in Friday Harbor, the small town on one of the San Juan Islands, just off the coast of Washington State. In one of our sets we were preceded by Jim Cullums Jazz Band from San Antonio, Texas. I had heard this band before but this was the first time I had a chance to enjoy the full impact of Jim and his superb band. I also had just bought one of these (then) big Sony video8 cameras and was able to record most of Jims set. I remember to be really taken by the bands skills, talent, jazz feeling, a band totally honest, nothing phony, a band that just played very hot and in the idiom. These cassettes have been on the shelf for more than 20 years. In an email exchange I recently had with Don Mopsick, Jims bassist and webmaster, he mentioned that Jim would like me to put some of the bands music on Youtube and Dailymotion.. Although not perfect in video quality, as a team of camera men/sound men could have managed, I feel that the spirit that comes through in this session prevails over anything that is planned and organized beforehand. LITTLE WONDER #942 issued 1918. Although many are under the impression that LITTLE WONDER records are intended only for children, they are not. However, some of their issues are definitely intended for the younger set. Such is this example. Even though LITTLE WONDER releases typically run about a minute and a half, this issue actually features two...count em...two songs! HUMPTY DUMPTY and POLLY PUT THE KETTLE ON. The LITTLE WONDER record label produced 5" records, which were sold in five-n-dime stores for ten cents. These records typically have average or slightly below average sound for the period and were very popular due to their quality and low price. Played on a VICTOR TALKING MACHINE VV VI.

Romero records were a part of Cameo Records that was pressed to be sold in W.H Kress Five and dime Stores. They were all electrically recorded and now Im finding that they have a distinctive sound. Who ever choose the recordings to be released seemed to always choose the Hot Dance band which I call Collegian bands.
