Prince The Max Rocks - A Musical Portrait (1989 VHS 4 3)

I know Prince will have his men remove this, but at least for a few eyes - this was a documentary that was shown in around 89 on US Cable TV.

It NOT only shows Prince but several other musical greats in which I feel many fans of those artists would also like to see.

As for Prince - this shows Prince at his ultimate and most creative period. All before the WB drama, and the JW coversions and taking back the internet.

Ive always learned to play or about music from not only hearing but seeing and this shows so much -

Eric Clapton, Randy Newman, Miles Davis, George Clinton, Sheila E. and amazing live music and plus Eric Leeds opening with subtle Jazz, Funk Fusion playing.

Its a short piece and a classic of Prince specials! Captivating Livekotuy concert footage - fan interviews, rehearsals, studio playing of Partyman with unreleased added BASS and God Is Alive from Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic!

Its got in about a little under 10 minutes, EVERYTHING that made Prince fantastic! What I now call his Classic Period or The WB Years.

In-joy.

If u could just learn 2 smile
U and I could fly away, fly away."

Jared & Tory - Legend of Max

This is a videos of me, Jared, and Tory playing The Legend of Max on Expert (10) on our DDR SuperNova machine at Main Event in Austin.

In this video, I pass and and set an old new machine record with 91% with 4 Boos (previously 89%, also held by me, and currently 94.9%, held by me) and Tory failed (again) with some shitty score that no one cares about. Its funny how he disses my record score while he fails terribly.

I played this on x1.5 & Note (of course) and Tory played on x1 & Rainbow.

Thanks to Isaac for making this video.

Tarzen - Inmediate Obedience

This Melodic Rock / AOR Gem was the 1st single for Tarzens 2nd, and last, record. It was released in 1989, produced by Stuarp Epps and mixed by Spencer Proffer (of Quiet Riot fame).

The first album by Tarzen is a straight foward Hard N Heavy record, which is excelent. With "Madrid" the band entered the A.O.R. territory. If ure into Airrace, Lionheart, White Sister, Shy, Sangre Azul, etc, kind of music, then Im sure youll like Tarzen!

Tarzen is
Danny Peyronel - Keyboards & Lead Singer
Salvador Domínguez - Guitars and Backing vocals
Michel Peyronel - Drums & Backing vocals

And introducin... Vitiko (also known as Vitico or Viticio) on the bass guitar and backing vocals.

Danny is a legend himself. He was from the legendary UK band "The Heavy Metal Kids", then played with U.F.O., Blue Max and Riff before Tarzen. He also sang opera for a while in the 90s and wrote song for some artists (as Meat Loaf).

Salva is another legend. He relesead his 1st solo record in 1978 and formed the awesome Spanish 80s metal band Banzai. After Tarzen hes continuing to persue his solo carrer and he is a book writer as well.

Vitiko and Michel came from the first Heavy Metal band in Argentina, called Riff. After Tarzen ended, they both returned for Riffs reunion.

Ralph Hood played only in Tarzens s/t record from 1985, but he appears on my video. This italian guy was from the band "Grand Prix (which had Robin McCauley as lead singer before the M.S.G. fame)".

As special guest on my video we got Dee Snider, and, of course, one of my fave bands, the Twisted Sister!

The song Inmediate Obedience was written by the Peyronel brothers and S. Domínguez.

There is an alternative version of "Madrid" called "Es Una Selva Ahi Fuera". Inmediate Obedience was renamed as "Romance En la Linea". "Glad All Over" as the title track and "Walls And Rivers" became "Frente Al Rio, Frente Al Muro".

I would like to dedicate this one to all Tarzen members, associates, friends and, specially, the fans worldwide!
I hope you all enjoy it!

STAY HARD (True As Steel)!

 -Description-
A true legend! The Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point didnt just break world records when it opened in 1989 - it shattered them! Standing an amazing 205 feet above the Earth below and cruising at a top speed of 72 mph, this scream machine was the tallest and fastest roller coaster ever created when it debuted in 1989. As impressive as those statistics are, coaster enthusiasts will tell you the element that makes Magnum truly a coaster king is its "airtime!" That feeling of floating over each of the rides intense hills helps make Magnum one of the greatest coasters of all time.

The Magnum is a traditional "out and back" coaster that features 5,106 feet of track that winds its way over Soak City and along the Lake Erie shoreline, giving riders an unparalleled view of the lake and the Cedar Point skyline. In 2006, the Magnum XL-200 was voted No. 3 in the "Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World" category in a poll conducted by Amusement Today.

In only 18 seasons, Magnum has given more than 36 million guests a ride to remember. In 2007 alone, 1,525,188 guests rode Magnum. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall.

VERN GOSDIN & EMMYLOU HARRIS-YESTERDAYS GONE

As the sixth child in a family of nine, Vern Gosdin began singing in a church in Woodland, Ala., where his mother played piano.

In 1961, he moved to California, where he joined the West Coast Country music movement, first as a member of the Golden State Boys, then the Hillmen before forming The Gosdin Brothers with brother Rex. The duo hit the charts in the late 60s with "Hangin On" on the Bakersfield International label, then with "Till The End" on Capitol Records.

He moved to Atlanta during the 70s, retired from performing and operated a glass company, but before the end of the decade he was back in the studio recording with Emmylou Harris and Janie Frickie.

He signed with Compleat Records in the early 80s, and in 1984 released "There Is A Season," picked by the Los Angeles Times as best country album of the year.

He made the top 10 consistently in the early 80s, really hitting his stride when he teamed with Max D. Barnes as a songwriting collaborator. The pair specialized in songs of cheating and barroom romance, often delivering an over-the-top emotionalism that got Gosdin compared to the ultimate legend of honky tonk vocals -- George Jones. In 1983, Gosdin had two top 5 hits — "If Youre Gonna Do Me Wrong (Do It Right)" and "Way Down Deep." The following year, he had his first No. 1 single with "I Can Tell by the Way You Dance (Youre Gonna Love Me Tonight)" and had two additional top 10 hits.

After Compleat Records went bankrupt, Gosdin signed with Columbia in 1987. He had success right off the bat with "Do You Believe Me Now." He hit No. 1 once again with the perennially popular Ernest Tubb tribute "Set Em Up Joe." Gosdins "Chiseled in Stone," co-written with Barnes, won the Country Music Associations Song of the Year award in 1989.

His 1989 album Alone was a concept album in a traditional country style. It chronicled the dissolution of Gosdins marriage. From 1989-1991, he released a number of songs and three more made the Billboard top 10 "Right in the Wrong Direction," "That Just About Does It" and "Is It Raining at Your House." Recently, "Is It Raining at Your House" was covered by Brad Paisley.

In 2008, Gosdin released "40 Years of the Voice," a four-CD career retrospective. The boxed set on VGM Records features 101 songs, including 14 previously unreleased tracks recorded 35 years ago. The collection also offers 11 newly recorded songs, as well as hits such as "Chiseled in Stone," "Set Em Up Joe," "Today My World Slipped Away" and "I Can Tell by the Way You Dance."

About this Countdown

Id first like to credit Underworld23, whose own Top 100 Battle Themes Playlist I viewed in its entirety. However, I couldnt help but think the entire time how much I disagreed with the list, no offense to Underworld23, of course. So I decided to take this cool idea on myself. And now we have my take.

Regarding the music chosen in this list In the case that a theme appears in multiple games, I chose the version I preferred; All the music in this list is represented as it is heard in the game (no arrangements); Music from action RPGs are included at my discretion (as in, what I consider to be either an action RPG or an action/adventure game avid RPG players are likely to play and/or enjoy for the same or similar reasons they would any other RPG).

Fanboys/girls are bound to flip a $hit when this list is complete, but please dont personally e-mail me your own incensed fanboy/girl diatribes and opinions on this countdown

Of course, if you dont like this countdown, perhaps you will enjoy Underworld23s at

Buck Norris sings "Setem Up Joe" by Vern Gosdin.
As country music swung back toward traditional styles in the 1980s, an inheritor of the soulful honky tonk style of Lefty Frizzell and Merle Haggard rose to the top of the business and notched hit after barroom hit. Sometimes he was known simply as "the Voice." Born in Woodland, AL, Vern Gosdin idolized the Louvin Brothers and the Blue Sky Boys as a young man and sang in a gospel quartet called the Gosdin Brothers. When he was in his late teens, his family moved to Birmingham and began hosting The Gosdin Family Gospel Show on a local radio station. Gosdin and his brother, Rex, moved to Long Beach, CA, in 1961. They began performing bluegrass music in the milieu that gave birth to country-rock, joining a group called the Golden State Boys that evolved into the Hillmen, featuring future Byrds member Chris Hillman. Vern and Rex teamed up to sing country music as the Gosdin Brothers once again, had a Top 40 country hit in 1967 with "Hangin On," and opened for the Byrds on occasion.

Gosdin moved to Atlanta in 1972, raising a family and running a retail shop. But he never gave up on music completely. He performed at local clubs and began to gravitate toward Nashville, where Emmylou Harris, a friend of Gosdins from his California days, was laying the foundation for a neo-traditionalist style of country music. Around 1976 Gosdin and Harris cut a demo single consisting of "Hangin On" backed with a newly written song, "Yesterdays Gone." The demo got Gosdin signed to the Elektra label, and both songs cracked the country Top 20. In the late 70s he notched several major hits, including "Till the End" (with Janie Fricke), "Mother Country Music," and a remake of the Associations "Never My Love."

In 1980, after the demise of Elektras country division, Gosdin quickly moved through several contracts and landed with the independent Nashville label Compleat. He made the Top Ten consistently in the early 80s, really hitting his stride when he teamed with Max D. Barnes as a songwriting collaborator. The pair specialized in songs of cheating and barroom romance, often delivering an over-the-top emotionalism that got Gosdin compared to the ultimate legend of honky tonk vocals, George Jones. In 1983, Gosdin had two Top Five hits -- "If Youre Gonna Do Me Wrong (Do It Right)" and "Way Down Deep." The following year he had his first number one single with "I Can Tell by the Way You Dance (Youre Gonna Love Me Tonight)" and had two additional Top Ten hits. His career hit a lull in the mid-80s, but in 1987, with the new traditionalist movement in full swing and Warner Bros. artist Randy Travis roosting at the top of the charts, he was tapped by the Columbia label. He bounced back into the Top Ten that year with the tortured "Do You Believe Me Now," and in 1988 he hit number one once again with the perennially popular Ernest Tubb tribute "Set Em Up Joe." Gosdins "Chiseled in Stone," co-written with Barnes, won the Country Music Associations Song of the Year award in 1989. His 1989 album Alone was a rarity a concept album in a traditional country style. It chronicled the dissolution of Gosdins marriage. Gosdins popularity declined as rock-influenced country styles surged forward in the 1990s, but he continued to record on small labels and never abandoned the pure country vocalism he had cultivated for so long.

I Can Tell By The Way You Dance

BCB Band sings "I Can Tell By The Way You Dance by Vern Gosdin.

Gosdins popularity declined as rock-influenced country styles surged forward in the 1990s, but he continued to record on small labels and never abandoned the pure country vocalism he had cultivated for so long.

pains scenic Bay of Roses is proud to give a traditional Catalonian welcome to the PWA World Tours finest Mens Slalom-42 Racers.

The 2007 season sees the Ballena Alegre Camping resort - the site of many great Freestyle and Super-X showdowns in the past - hosting the cream of the crop from the PWAs exciting Slalom racing discipline.

The action will rage from June 12th through 17th.

The Format

Slalom-42 is limited to production equipment, widely available on the open market, thats designed for maximum speed, downwind pursuit, and occasional long distance racing.

Its possible to race with wind speeds of less than 10 knots and riders are to be seen spectacularly overtaking each other at speed around gybe marks and along fast reaching sections.

Where?

Nearby Girona, accessible by low-cost airlines from across Europe, this has to be one of the most easily reached spots on tour for riders and spectators alike.

The conditions here can range from daily light thermal breezes to nuclear strength Tramontana wind howling down from the Pyrenean Mountains.

At Stake?

An enticing €30K Prize Purse has tempted a full strength entry list to this hotbed of windsurfing on Mediterranean. The 2007 Slalom World Title.

Names to watch out for...

Red Hot Favorites and Form Players after one event this season

• Kevin Pritchard (USA-3 Starboard / MauiSails) - The Current tour leader. One PWA racing title to his name already.

• Bjorn Dunkerbeck (SUI-11 T1 / North) -- Racing Colossus. Total Windsurfing Legend. Missed first event of year. Joint 2005 Racing Champ. More than capable of catching up...fast.

Dark horses

• Ross Williams (GBR-83 Tabou / Gaastra) - Light wind specialist wholl love the softer sea breezes.
• Arnon Dagan (ISR-1 Fanatic / NeilPryde) -- Capable of turning it on and beating the best at any time.
• Steve Allen (AUS-0 Tabou / Gaastra) - Racing Specialist. 2002 PWA Racing Champion. Always a chance he could bring a top 3 finish out of the bag. Missed first event of year in Korea, but is on fine form in European contests.

Flying Dutchmen

• Pieter Bijl (NED-0 Fanatic / NeilPryde) -- Super-competitive powerhouse. Chief tester for NeilPryde Race team
• Ben Van Der Steen (NED -- 57 Exocet /Naish) -- Loose Cannon capable of cracking off race wins.
• Peter Volwater (NED-24 F2 / North) - Seasoned all-rounder never to be under-estimated.

New Talent

Debonaire Records.
Written by Miami bass historian PappaWheelie

Our generation began with Funk, which later coexisted in the clubs with Disco, but then a revolution happened in the streets. As the 80s dawned, the Hip-Hop movement inspired Rap records and after the advent of affordable Drum Computers, Electro was born! South Florida, along with NY and LA, was one of three breeding grounds for Electro. As the novelty of early Rap records and breakdancing wore off in 1985, South Florida gave birth to a new style of music Miami Bass.

Debonaire first made a mark in 1986 when founder Claudio Barrella joined the Florida Record Pool and became managed as a club DJ by Bo Crane of the fledgling Pandisc Records. Pandisc had just signed the legendary Maggotron and they needed a DJ. Hiring Claudio for the role, Pandisc released "Welcome to the Planet of Bass" in 1987, which largely featured Claudios groundbreaking work. He followed this when he and rapper Tricky D constructed the timely track "Get Silly with the Muppet Bass". Although it may seem dated to young bucks today, during the height of 80s Hip-Hop, this was considered a classic. It caught the attention of former members of the band The Florida Players, an act from the renowned TK label. They released the song on their new Coomack Records, which in turn sparked a vision.

Claudio began to idealize Debonaire not just as a stage name, but as one of the pillars of golden era Miami Bass. Setting up Debonaire Records in early 1988, he and Tricky D came back stronger with "Take it to the Max", and an EP for the group Rock & Fizz. However, the next record would make history as it introduced new programming techniques by Claudio, as well as introducing the world to the celebrated rapper Breezy Beat MC. The resulting single, "Shake the Joint", was and is considered one of the top classics of the Miami Bass genre, and caused a great deal of attention for Debonaire Records. The success couldve easily ended there.

After working further with Tricky D, Debonaire signed more acts and released more singles to a very warm response, but his next project would prove Debonaire to be a giant in the field. After Dynamix II left Bass Station Records and underwent a change in personnel in 1988, Claudio and founding Dynamix member Scratch-D joined forces and together in 1989 produced the classics "Bass Generator" and "Ignition", which remain among the cornerstones of Electro Bass globally.

One of the great mysteries surrounding Claudio since the early days of Debonaire Records is who or what is behind the record "Sonic Boom". The track was briefly released in the 90s under the group name Omega II and it connected Dynamix II, Breezy Beat MC, DXJ of Maggotron, and Claudio. This record was illegitimately released on Claudios Showroom Records, a relative label to Debonaire Records, and became a global cult classic selling for hundreds of dollars worldwide through auctions, beyond anything known in the U.S. Since then, a mysterious Electro act has taken it upon themselves to make their version of the song, which confused the buying public. As a result, Debonaire was found to be in the center of one of the biggest controversies in Electro history, which is a testament to the strength of the production.

Since then, both Dynamix II and Breezy Beat MC have gone on to earn their status as titans in the trade while Claudio has continued forward in his own right. When the burgeoning new beat Techno sub-genre first was imported into Florida in the early 90s, Claudio spearheaded a project well before it morphed into the now known "Florida Breaks" scene. As the car audio Bass cottage-industry blossomed into a national phenomenon, Claudio fronted many projects successfully in that vein also. All of these ventures certainly proved to be forward thinking and thriving, but letting a legend become forgotten is to no ones advantage. As the golden era Miami Bass revival began picking up steam in the 2000s, Debonaire Records was one of the first two record labels to return to the scene that birthed it.
