Held annually the second Sunday in December, this year December 13, 2009, The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting® unites family and friends around the globe as they light candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died at any age from any cause. As candles are lit at 7 p.m. local time, creating a virtual wave of light, hundreds of thousands of persons commemorate and honor the memory of children who have died in a way that transcends all ethnic, cultural, religious, and political boundaries. Last year more than 500 Worldwide Candle Lighting services covering all 50 states plus Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico were listed on The Compassionate Friends national website. In addition, information on services were submitted from 24 countries outside the United States. December 14 there will also be a Remembrance Book on The Compassionate Friends national website where you can post a message to honor the memory of a child, sister or brother, or grandchild. If you are unable to attend a service, we encourage you to light a candle for one hour at 7 p.m. no matter where you may be. For more information, visit -compassionatefriends. As a TCF member too ... As a TCF member too, I also agree with 20br04 who wrote the text comment below mine.
At the moment the candles are being lit at 7 00 pm, it is hard for tears not to fall, but the majority of the event is about who each child was - their precious memories!.The memories of them, the ones that made us laugh, remember good and bad times... keeping their memory a part of us during the Holiday season. This day is very helpful for families and friends
